CERT Training Requirements

- Prerequisites to attend C.E.R.T.:
a. Must be eighteen (18) years old;
b. Must possess a valid drivers license;
c. Must be in good physical condition;
d. Must be willing to submit to a background investigations:
e. Must live or work in the City of Southlake;
f. Must be willing to commit the necessary time to:
Help the citizens of Southlake;
Respond, and provide assistance, during incidents of disaster.
g. Applicants who have attended and successfully completed the Southlake Department of Public Safety Citizens’ Academy will be given preference with respect to class size.
- Out of respect for the class, and instructors, all communication devices will be placed on “silent mode” or turned off during class.
- For the purposes of safety during demonstrations, and/or ride-a-longs, class members will obey all lawful instructions of the instructor or officer in-charge at all times.
- In the event a class member becomes involved in circumstances that could bring discredit upon the Southlake Department of Public Safety, the Director of Public Safety will discern if continued class participation will be permitted.
- Outside guests are not permitted to attend classes. At no time are children permitted to attend any session or special session.
- The dress code for classroom participation is business casual. Typical attire would include the departmentally issued shirt, and khaki slacks. Special assignments may require attire commensurate to the activities being presented.
- Participants must attend all sessions in order to graduate. Graduation is required prior to any assignments as a C.E.R.T. member.
You will be notified when the following Written Application and Release forms are due prior to the class.
